This class covers an introduction to randomized controlled trials (RCTs). It explores the definition of an RCT, why one should use them, and the important components of an RCT. This class will also teach you about what kind of evidence you can claim from an RCT, and how to assess an RCT for methodological quality.

• Be able to identify a randomized controlled trial, describe its important components and use the CONSORT checklist to appraise it.
